- World Junior Champion in 1980 - FIDE World Champion 1985 - 1993 - Won the PCA (Professional Chess Association) World Championship match against Nigel Short in 1993. - Defended his PCA-title in 1995 where he won against Anand. - In 2000 Kasparov lost against Kramnik in the Braingames World Championship match.
